The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch (1961 - 2008)

There's probably nothing important I can say about Randy Pausch's The Last Lecture except urge you to read it. I think reading the book after watching the lecture itself is best.

I got my copy from the library but I want a copy of my own to read and reread when I need a little guidance. I'll be buying a few friends copies for Christmas.

If you want to know more about Randy or see the video, visit his webpage.

Maybe because I had a close friend die in July of this year, I read the book thinking about Jane even though the circumstances were different. This is a book about how to live and how to die.

Library Book Sales

I got notified by the library the other day that it was my turn to read Randy Paush's (with Jeffrey Zaslow) book The Last Lecture. When I went to pick it up, I discovered that the Friends' of the library were holding a book sale. Not needing any more books to read, I purchased 5 mysteries and one cookbook.

How could I resist? These were some of my favorite authors and titles I hadn't read yet: The Vendetta Defense and Killer Smile (Lisa Scottoline); A Certain Justice (P.D. James); The Lamorna Wink (Martha Grimes); Total Recall (Sara Paretsky); and The New Dieter's Cook Book (Better Homes and Gardens). Did I mention that the total cost was $4.50? I should be set through the end of the year and there won't be any overdue fines!

Kathy Krentz put me to shame when she wrote about visiting the wonderful used bookstore here in Jackson and I had to admit I have never visited. I still haven't but I promise to as soon as I read my current stack.
