When I started this blog in 2007, it was a place I could record thoughts about what I was reading as well as write random brief ramblings about bright, shiny bookish things that caught my attention.
My love of reading and books goes back to third grade when Mrs. Krosnick declared me the winner of the summer reading contest. I had read more books than anyone else. I've been keeping track of the fact since 1996. I still read a lot.
After studying theater and communication (Carnegie Mellon University, when it was Carnegie Institute of Technology, and the University of Pittsburgh), I got serious and obtained a Masters Degree in Library Science (University of Michigan).
I am indiscriminate about my sources of reading material, which I mention somewhere in each review. My library card gives me access to a wealth of titles, but I also buy books (new, used, independent bookstores, etc.). Recently I joined Net Galley and those mostly pre-publication titles are read on my Kindle.
Rather than a rehashing of the plot, I attempt to answer the questions: What makes this book different from all the others? And why should you care?

I do not receive any compensation for my book reviews.
Unlike many of today's readers, I am not interested in romances, chick lit, science fiction, paranormal, vampires, or werewolves.
You can get my attention with mysteries especially literate, gothic, and thrillers. Short stories and novels by women writers make me happy. I love non-fiction that reads like fiction. Books with theatrical links always catch my eye.
If you would like me to review your book, please send me an email with the details to: anncholt@gmail.com. I cannot guarantee to review every book I receive. I do not believe in 'slash and burn' reviews, but I do believe in being honest.
What a nice blog! (Just discovered it.)
