Catching Up on Reviews - 2026

I've been doing a lot of reading recently but skipping writing the reviews. To assuage my guilt, I am going to give a little feedback on OUR MARRIAGE IS MURDER (Carol Goodman), THE STRANGERS (Naomi Alderman), and DO YOU SEE WHAT I SEE? (Peter Swanson).

OUR MARRIAGE IS MURDER by Carol Goodman

For mystery writers, librarians, and those who love reading, this is book is great fun. Goodman has written in a new genre not a thriller mystery but rather a predictable body count with a lighter tone, making it more a cozy diversion.

THE STRANGERS by Naomi Alderman

Disturbing and painful but totally engaging. A new species has been identified and the writer of this book struggles with grief over her mother's death. The world she describes exists for all of us. "The Strangers" was long-listed for the Booker Prize.

DO YOU SEE WHAT I SEE? by Peter Swanson

Here's a new chilling holiday mystery from New York Times bestselling author Peter Swanson about a struggling writer enlisted to help a famous novelist finish his overdue book. But when two bodies turn up at a seaside mansion, the writer must unmask the killer before Christmas Day.

With his signature slow burn, psychological intrigue, and unexpected twists, Swanson delivers a suspenseful holiday whodunit. Can Nicholas uncover the truth before the killer strikes again?
